It was established in 1970 when the Government nationalized the Tanganyika Standard Newspapers Limited and its newspaper, The Standard. Daily News is a merger between the Standard and The Nationalist that rolled off the press on April 17, 1964.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”The Guardian” tab_id=”1550160854018-a1e554c4-74ff”][vc_column_text]\"\"The Guardian<\/em> is published by the Guardian Newspaper Ltd. It was registered with the Registrar of Newspapers in 2000. Safari FM<\/em> is a local radio station based in Mtwara region, the southern part of Tanzania. TBC was established in 2008 after the merger between the former government radio RTD (Radio Tanzania Dar es Salaam) and TvT (Television ya Taifa). TBC Taifa\u2019s mandate is largely to inform and educate the audience on national policies and developments. The radio is among the broadcast stations owned by TBC; others are TBC FM<\/em>, TBC International<\/em>, TBC1<\/em>, and the recently introduced TV station TBC Safari Channel<\/em> whose mandate is to promote tourism.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Radio Free Africa (RFA)” tab_id=”1550214725740-048777e3-c1f3″][vc_column_text]Radio Free Africa (RFA\"\" was established in 1995. It is regarded as the leading radio station among youths in the country.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Radio One” tab_id=”1550214725880-e1458f16-241c”][vc_column_text]\"\"Radio One started its operation in 1994. It is one among the radio stations owned by the IPP Media Limited. Other media outlets owned by IPP Media include Capital Radio<\/em>, ITV<\/em>, East Africa Radio<\/em>, East Africa TV<\/em> etc. The radio broadcasts 24-hours from Dar es Salaam.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”ZBC Radio” tab_id=”1552636839361-60daaa7d-209d”][vc_column_text]\"\"The history of ZBC Radio dates back to 1951, when Sauti ya Unguja was established. Soon after the Union between Tanganyika and Zanzibar, Sauti ya Unguja was renamed Sauti ya Tanzania Zanzibar (STZ). The radio was started with the aim of raising awareness on girl\u2019s education, a direct result of the very high dropout rates of girls, but also as an important medium of building and maintaining peace in the islands.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Zenj FM” tab_id=”1552637013660-b10e7826-7198″][vc_column_text]\"\"Zenj FM (96.8) is the first private radio station in Zanzibar. The radio\u2019s mission is to \u201ccombat illiteracy and facilitating knowledge transfer through dissemination of various information and advocacy,\u201d with a vision to contribute to the Tanzanian community by helping the ignorant and poor Tanzanians to access information and supplement government\u2019s efforts to alleviate poverty. Its vision is to promote economic stability, good governance, resilience and a sense of community beyond the walls of the radio station. The radio, which started broadcasting in 2010, is located in Dodoma, the national capital city.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Pangani FM” tab_id=”1552637013921-bccc7f4b-5ec6″][vc_column_text]\"\"Pangani FM (107.7) is a registered community radio station located in Pangani District, in Tanga region. The radio, operated by Uzima Kwa Sanaa (UZIKWASA) organization, started its broadcasting 2011. The radio aims to give voice to the challenges facing the community in development matters and to suggest solutions to these challenges.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Highlands FM” tab_id=”1552638193425-fd4c7cb4-28c4″][vc_column_text]\"\"Highlands FM (92.5) is registered as a commercial radio station operating in Mbeya region. The radio started its operation in 2010. It aims to address all aspects of business, commerce and development in the Southern Region of the country.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Arusha 1 FM” tab_id=”1552638302120-053a0095-8c9f”][vc_column_text]\"\"Arusha 1 FM (101.6) is registered as a commercial radio station, and started its operation in 2011.
